Contractors interested in Caltrans construction work needed a fast way to find current opportunities across California’s 12 districts, rather than digging through a static list of all State of California projects. The portal needed to support two very different search habits—some contractors know their district by name, others think geographically—while surfacing key bid details (license requirements, advertise and bid dates, county) clearly enough to scan quickly.
I designed the Construction Contracting Opportunities Portal around two parallel entry points: a checklist-based district search and an interactive statewide map, so contractors can find projects the way that matches how they already think about the state. A combined “All District Projects” view lets users filter and sort every open opportunity in one sortable table, with a simple feedback form rounding out the experience. The design follows Caltrans’ brand and the State of California’s web standards throughout.
